Pro-Athletes & Heavy Equipment

In January of 2020, Extreme Sandbox (Heavy Metal Learning sponsor) was excited to be invited to Miami for a pop-up event with Snickers on their #SNICKERSfixtheworld campaign. McKinnon JCB provided us with two brand new excavators for this event. (Thank you McKinnon JCB!)

After several days of prep, the site was ready. Snickers brought in Aaron Donald from the LA Rams and Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown from the Baltimore Ravens to battle it out on those JCB excavators. They both did great, were very professional and more importantly, they had fun. After their time on the excavators, they sat down with several different media outlets for interviews.

While the whole experience was fantastic, we especially loved the fact that two pro-athletes were shown operating heavy equipment. Why is this important? We hope that in a small way, events like these will inspire the next generation to consider a career in heavy equipment.

It’s no secret that the trades need skilled workers and heavy equipment careers are no exception. While these vacant positions generally include great pay, benefits and on the job training, there are still many spots to fill. By raising awareness of the industry through events like the #SNICKERSfixtheworld campaign, we will hopefully start to see more of the next generation choose the trades as a life-long career.
